Auld Family
Wilberforce Cab/Shiraz Auld Family
Elegantly structured with a silky texture and fruit sweetness to the mid palate with layers of red cherry spice and subtle briar flavours. A big mouth fill, youthful and well balanced. Aromas of blackberry, red jubes and plums with subtle notes of black currant and spice.
The Auld family have a long history in the Barossa, dating back to 1842 when Patrick Auld planted the Auldana vineyard just outside Adelaide. Now, over 150 years later, Sam & Jock are producing wines that capture the rich environment of their home state while adding another chapter to the family’s storied history; hoping to one day inspire yet another generation of Aulds to carry on the legacy.
A combination of small and medium size static fermenters was used, with ‘wild’ yeasts present on the grape skins being allowed to initiate fermentation. Cultured winery yeasts were then added to complete the fermentation and parcels were then pressed and run to barrel with the result being a wine with excellent depth of colour, richness and complexity.
