Salcombe Distillery
Salcombe Gin Voyager Series Limited Edition - Daring 50cl
This limited-edition gin is the seventh in the Salcombe Gin Voyager Series, a collection of limited-edition gins, each developed in collaboration with an iconic winemaker or world-renowned chef, to reflect their individual personality and style.
Named ‘Daring’ after a Salcombe Fruiter built in Salcombe in 1859 for owners based in Padstow and inspired by her cargo of exotic fruits and spices imported from around the globe; this limited-edition release has been developed in collaboration with world-renowned Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainsworth.
Inspired by Paul Ainsworth’s dish, ‘A Tale of Porthilly’, this latest release is distilled with whey and foraged Cornish botanicals, showcasing the spirit of the wild Cornish coast.
Limited to 10,000 bottles, ‘Daring’ is presented in a stunning white glass bottle featuring an embossed outline of the iconic gin pennant and a bespoke debossed copper stopper commissioned for the series. Available with or without a presentation box with beautiful copper detailing and a recipe card for the ‘Who Dares Wins’ cocktail created by Paul’s team of mixologists.
Tasting Notes: Created to mimic the flavours of Paul’s signature dish, ‘Daring’ is rich and buttery on the nose, balanced with fresh, fragrant fennel, seashore herbs and warming allspice. On the palate it has a soft, velvety mouthfeel with sweet liquorice and zesty flavours of fresh lime and blood orange. There are subtle underlying umami notes from oyster leaf balanced beautifully with earthy angelica. The finish is smooth with great depth and length, a lingering citrus tang and warmth of green cardamon and anise.
Best served: over plenty of ice with a Premium Indian tonic water and garnished with thin slices of apple or in a ‘Who Dares Wins’ cocktail.
