Estru Carignano Isola dei Nuraghi IGT

£18.50

Estru is a novelty at Siddùra. It is a pure Carignano, whose name means 'inspiration'. The grapes come from the south-west of Sardinia, where this vine has found its ideal habitat, close to the sea. The origin of this vine is uncertain. According to some studies, it even originated in Sardinia, while others believe it originated in Spain and was later introduced to Sardinia during the Middle Ages. In any case, today Carignano is the second most widespread grape variety in the region, after Cannonau.

Siddùra harvests it in vineyards affected by beneficial sea breezes, where the climate, however, is hot and the soils poor. Only in this way are healthy grapes rich in aromatic and colouring elements born. Harvested between the first and second ten days of September, the wine undergoes a simple but careful processing and matures in the cellar for a few months before being bottled. The result is a fresh and fruity red wine.

Ruby red in colour, this red wine from the region has subtle aromas reminiscent of blackberry and blueberry compote, combined with touches of white pepper and liquorice. On the palate it has a definite ripe and juicy fruit note, with a pleasant fresh-savoury component. It is the right wine to accompany a tasty snack. Excellent with cured meats and local cheeses. Also perfect for a barbecue with friends, planning the next holiday... In Sardinia, of course.
