Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

A precise and expressive blend from the Marlborough region's finest terroir, this vintage has lively notes of ripe citrus, lime leaf, and tropical and stone fruits.

By selecting the best grapes from across the Wairau Valley, Cloudy Bay has created a sauvignon blanc with an abundance of character, and an impressively long finish. Ripe citrus, passionfruit, white peach and Thai lime leaf combine on the nose. Vibrant and concentrated, flavours of zesty citrus and tropical fruits are complemented by a subtle hint of orchard blossom and grapefruit.

This 100% sauvignon blanc survived an unsettled year‚ a mild winter, warm spring and cool summer ‚before a period of warm and dry weather helped the grapes to fully ripen. This wine was fermented primarily in stainless steel, though 5% was set aside to ferment in old French barriques and large-format oak vats before blending.

Cloudy Bay was established in 1985 by David Hohnen, a pioneer and visionary, who was convinced of New Zealand wines' great potential. The winery was among the first five to be established in Marlborough, the country's finest wine region.

It is now highly regarded for the superlative quality and consistency of its wines. Thirsty years later, Cloudy Bay remains New Zealand's most recognised winery and Sauvignon Blanc is the Estate's flagship grape variety.

Sauvignon made under the AMW banner must be 100% from Marlborough, be made from lower-yielding vines. Also be made and bottled in New Zealand. Cloudy Bay's 2019 Sauvignon will carry the AMW logo on its label.
